Fluke MicroScanner™ Cable Verifier Series

Fluke MicroScanner II -EN

Fast and Easy Verification Testing

The MicroScanner™ Cable Verifier Series is designed to simplify cable testing for voice, data, and video systems. It consolidates what used to require four separate test modes into a single screen display, showing:

  • Graphical Wiremap
  • Pair Lengths
  • Distance to Fault
  • Cable ID
  • Far End Device Information

Moreover, it supports testing of nearly all types of low-voltage cables without the need for adapters or converters. This results in faster testing, fewer technician errors, and a more efficient path to delivering high-quality installations.

Quickly Identify and Resolve Service Issues

Today’s communication technicians face challenges beyond just the cabling itself. They must be able to verify and isolate potential issues from both the cabling and the services to accurately diagnose network problems.

The MicroScanner Cable Verifier Series is equipped to answer critical questions that help reduce troubleshooting time, such as:

  • Is there telephone voltage present?
  • Is the signal polarity correct?
  • Is there an Ethernet switch at the far end?
  • Is PoE (Power over Ethernet) available?
  • If PoE is present, is there sufficient power for the device?

The MicroScanner Series recognizes the complexity of modern services and gives technicians a clear view of voice, data, and video service delivery. This results in faster and more comprehensive troubleshooting.

Key Features of the Fluke MicroScanner II

A Game-Changing Interface Design

Older cable testers often required users to switch between up to four different modes to view all test results. This not only slowed down the testing process but also created confusion and led to a higher chance of user error.

The MicroScanner2 breaks these limitations by displaying all critical test results on a single screen, including:

  • Wiremap
  • Pair Lengths
  • Distance to Fault
  • Cable ID
  • Far End Device

All of this is displayed on a single screen simultaneously. In addition, the device features a large backlit LCD screen that clearly presents the wiremap in a graphical format. This enhances both ease of use and readability, providing a user experience that is more intuitive and efficient than ever before.

Multimedia Support

Tired of having to carry around multiple adapters to test different cable types—whether voice, data, or video cables—that often get lost or damaged?

The MicroScanner2 puts these problems in the past by supporting RJ11, RJ45, and Coaxial connectors built right into the device, eliminating the need for external adapters.

Both the main unit and the far-end identifiers can test telephone ports, Ethernet ports, and CATV connections directly out of the box.

This is another way the MicroScanner2 truly reduces hassle and boosts efficiency in cable verification.

Intelligent Tone Signal System (IntelliTone)

The MicroScanner2 comes equipped with both digital and analog IntelliTone functions, enabling precise cable or pair identification in any working environment.

Digital Mode
Used to locate high-quality data cables such as Cat 5e, Cat 6, and Cat 6a within cable bundles, switches, patch panels, or wall outlets.
This mode is especially suitable for environments with high interference from data signals, RF signals, or electromagnetic interference (EMI).

When used with the IntelliTone 200 Pro Probe, it can also verify the wiremap from both the tester side and the far end where the probe is connected.

Analog Mode

Used for cables that support low frequencies, such as:

  • Cat 3 or lower telephone cables
  • Coaxial cables
  • Security/alarm system cables
  • Speaker wires

These cables are suitable for low-frequency tone signals for easier identification and separation.

The MicroScanner2 also features Smart Analog Tone, which changes the tone (like switching a melody) whenever the pair being tested has a short circuit. This helps technicians confidently identify each pair before terminating the cable or while troubleshooting voice communication issues.

VDV Service Detection

Today’s voice, data, and video technicians face many challenges beyond just cabling. They need to verify and isolate potential issues from both the cables and the services before identifying the root cause of connectivity problems.

The MicroScanner2 understands this complexity by providing technicians with powerful tools to detect the most common service issues, such as:

  • Checking for the presence of POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) voltage and verifying signal polarity
  • Detecting if a 10/100/1000 Ethernet switch at the far end is supplying power
  • Verifying the correct voltage and pairs for PoE (Power over Ethernet)

High Durability Case: Rugged Housing

Your tools face tough usage every day, so you can’t afford to choose fragile equipment. The MicroScanner2 comes with a rubber protective case surrounding the device, making it suitable for even the harshest working conditions.
Throw it into your toolbox—it can handle it with ease.

It now also includes a vinyl carrying pouch that adds extra protection and makes it more convenient to carry.

PoE Testing

The MicroScanner PoE simplifies your PoE installations with quick and easy PoE verification. The tester can detect the PoE class (0–8) from the power source via the connected switch, following the latest PoE standards, and display the voltage from passive PoE sources.

This information helps technicians understand installation capabilities, improves work efficiency, and reduces waiting time for data from connected switches.

Ethernet Validation for Industrial Environments

Industrial environments present challenges and require more troubleshooting time than traditional IT settings. Connection failures can result from cable faults, causing communication interruptions and production delays.

Technicians need to check multiple issues related to cables and services before identifying the root cause of connection problems, such as:

  • Where is the cable broken?
  • Are all the cables terminated correctly?
  • Is there a switch at the far end?
  • Is PoE (Power over Ethernet) being supplied?

The MicroScanner Series provides technicians with tools to troubleshoot these issues and help get production back up and running quickly.

The MicroScanner™ Series Industrial Ethernet allows technicians to perform continuity tests on cables terminated with RJ45, M12X, M12D, and M8D connectors within seconds. It displays test results graphically, showing the wiremap, pair lengths, distance to fault, cable ID, and verifies whether the cable is connected to a far-end device.

Cable failures can cause costly production downtime, so quickly identifying the exact point of a cable break is critical for timely replacement or repair.
